Try This First: The 10-Second Reset
Press and hold the Stop button to clear the code, then check the three most common causes: water too hot (E6), powder lid open (E7), or funnel removed (E8). If the code won’t clear, hold the power button for 5–10 seconds to reset. If it comes back, jump to your code below.

Important First: Which Baby Brezza Do You Have?
The Baby Brezza red light blinking on your machine means something different depending on which model you own. Find yours below before troubleshooting.
Baby Brezza Error Codes Explained (E1–E8)
The Baby Brezza Formula Pro Advanced shows an error code when something interrupts a cycle. Find yours below and jump straight to the fix. These codes apply to the Formula Pro Advanced; other Baby Brezza models can differ.
| Error Code | What It Means | Quick Fix |
|---|---|---|
| E1–E5 | Motor, sensor or water-system fault | Hold Stop to clear. If it returns, contact Baby Brezza support. |
| E6 | Water in the tank is too hot (above about 50°C / 122°F) | Empty the tank, refill with room-temperature water, clear the code, then flush with Water Only. |
| E7 | Powder container lid opened during use | Close the lid completely, then hold Stop to clear the code. |
| E8 | Funnel removed during use | Reseat the funnel and funnel cover, then hold Stop to clear the code. |
E7 and E8 are usually just a lid or funnel that isn’t seated, and E6 is about water temperature. Descaling isn’t the fix for any of them.
Baby Brezza E6 Error: Water Too Hot
E6 means water hotter than about 50°C (122°F) got into the tank. The machine is designed for room-temperature or cooled boiled water, so hot water stops it from working.
- Empty the tank right away and refill it with room-temperature water.
- Return the tank to the base and hold Stop to clear the code.
- Hold Water Only to flush any remaining hot water through the machine.
- If E6 stays, hold the power button for 5–10 seconds to reset. If it is still there, unplug the machine, empty the tank, leave it for 18–24 hours, then contact Baby Brezza support.
Baby Brezza E7 Error: Powder Lid Open
E7 means the powder container lid was opened while the machine was running.
- Turn the lid clockwise until it closes completely.
- Check that the tab on the lid’s edge faces the back of the machine and engages the safety switch.
- Hold Stop to clear the code and the machine will return to normal.
A lid that is on backwards, or a powder container that isn’t fully seated, can also stop the machine from starting.
Baby Brezza E8 Error: Funnel Removed
E8 means the funnel was removed while the machine was running.
- Reinstall the funnel and the funnel cover. Line up the tab on the front of the cover with the notch in the funnel and push the cover down completely.
- Hold Stop to clear the code and the machine will return to normal.
Take the funnel out between bottles, not mid-cycle. Baby Brezza recommends cleaning the funnel, funnel cover and the underside of the powder container every four bottles.
Baby Brezza E1–E5 Errors: Motor and Sensor Faults
These codes point to an internal fault, such as the motor that turns the powder container, the sensor that reads the measuring wheel, the water flow meter, the temperature sensor or the water level switch. Hold Stop to clear the code. If it returns or won’t clear, contact Baby Brezza Customer Service instead of repeating resets.
How to Descale Your Baby Brezza Formula Pro Advanced
Descaling removes mineral buildup from hard water inside the machine, and Baby Brezza recommends doing it monthly. It’s routine maintenance, not the fix for E6, E7 or E8.

- Empty and remove the water tank.
- Fill the tank with descaling solution mixed with water per product instructions.
- Place a cup under the funnel to catch water and reinstall the tank.
- Run the descale cycle per the on-screen prompts.
- Empty the tank and refill with clean water once complete.
- Run a flush cycle to clear any remaining descaler.
- Repeat the flush once more with fresh water.
- Reinstall all parts and power back on — red light should be gone.
Double-check that the water tank is pushed all the way down, the funnel and funnel cover are seated, and the powder lid is closed. If an E1–E5 code keeps returning, contact Baby Brezza customer support.
Red Light After Cleaning — Why This Happens
You just cleaned the machine and now it won’t work. This is almost always a reassembly issue, not a real error. Check these three things in order:
- Funnel not fully seated — it needs to click firmly into place. Even slightly off will trigger an error.
- Water tank not fully clicked in — push down until you feel it lock. A partial connection is enough to cause a red light.
- Powder container misaligned — make sure it’s seated straight and the lid is fully closed.

Remove everything, dry all parts completely, and reinstall one piece at a time. Moisture left inside from cleaning is another common culprit — give parts at least 20–30 minutes to air dry before reassembling.
Baby Brezza Sterilizer Dryer: Red Screen Fix
On the Sterilizer Dryer, a red screen means the heating plate has mineral deposits and needs descaling. This is separate from the Formula Pro process — the fix involves applying descaling solution directly to the heating plate, running a cycle, and wiping clean. Check your model’s manual for exact steps as they vary slightly between Sterilizer versions.
Baby Brezza Instant Warmer: Blinking Is Normal
If you have the Instant Warmer and the light is blinking, this is not an error. The warmer blinks while heating to your selected temperature. Once it reaches temp, the blinking stops and the light goes solid.
If it blinks continuously and never reaches temperature, unplug for 30 seconds and plug back in. If it still won’t stop after a reset, the unit may be defective — contact Baby Brezza support.
When to Contact Baby Brezza Support
Reach out if any of the following apply:
- E1–E5 persists after a power button reset
- E6 keeps returning after you’ve emptied the tank, refilled with room-temperature water and left the machine unplugged for 18–24 hours
- E7 or E8 returns even though the powder lid and funnel are fully seated
- The machine won’t power on at all
- Any error code returns more than twice in a week
Baby Brezza machines come with a one-year warranty. Contact them at babybrezza.com/pages/contact-us.
How to Prevent the Red Light Coming Back
- Weekly: Remove and rinse the funnel, funnel cover, and water tank.
- Monthly: Run a full descale cycle with Baby Brezza descaling solution. Set a recurring phone reminder so you don’t forget.
- Use filtered water: Hard tap water is the #1 cause of mineral buildup. A water filter pitcher significantly reduces how often you need to descale and extends your machine’s life. Parents who switch often go from monthly descaling to every 6–8 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
$1Press and hold Stop until the code clears. If it won’t, hold the power button for 5–10 seconds to reset. Then fix the cause: empty the tank and refill with room-temperature water for E6, close the powder lid for E7, or reseat the funnel and funnel cover for E8.$2
Does descaling fix E6, E7 or E8?
No. Descaling is monthly maintenance. E6 is about water temperature, E7 is about the powder lid and E8 is about the funnel.
Can I still use my Baby Brezza when it’s blinking red?
No. When an error code is active, the machine won’t dispense. You’ll need to clear the error before it will operate normally.
How often should I descale my Baby Brezza?
Baby Brezza recommends monthly descaling. If you use hard tap water, you may need to do it more frequently. Switching to a filtered water pitcher can extend the interval to every 6–8 weeks.
Why is my Baby Brezza blinking red after I just cleaned it?
Almost always a reassembly issue. Check that the funnel, water tank, and powder container are all fully clicked into place, and that all parts are completely dry before reassembling.
